BLACKPINK’s Rosé Signs With THE BLACK LABEL

    Rosé

On June 18th 2024, it was confirmed by THE BLACK LABEL that Rosé has officially signed with them. The label’s statement was shared with various media outlets such as Sports Donga. A representative from the label shared with the news outlets that they, THE BLACK LABEL, have a management contract with Rosé that was signed based on the “mutual trust” that they have. The statement is as follows:

    This is THE BLACK LABEL.

We have signed a management contract with Rosé.

Teddy and Rosé have worked together as producer and artist for a long time now and recently, a management contract with THE BLACK LABEL was signed based on the mutual trust they share.

Currently, Rosé is preparing to meet her global fans with new music, and she will be working with global record labels for her global activities in the future.

Please look forward to the greatest synergy between Rosé, who has an unrivaled musical color, and THE BLACK LABEL, whose goal is the free activities of our artists.

We promise to provide support for Rosé in more diverse fields in the future.

    Thank you.

    THE BLACK LABEL

BLINKs and netizens had mixed reactions regarding this statement. Especially since the other BLACKPINK members have opened their own agencies; Lisa with LLOUD, Jennie with ODD ATELIER and Jisoo with BLISSOO.

Some fans think that she is “back in the dungeon” since artists under THE BLACK LABEL aren’t exactly known for having frequent comebacks. Somi, for instance, who has last made a comeback on August 7th 2023 with her EP “GAME PLAN” and released a single “Ex-Mas” on December 12th 2023, hasn’t released any new music in 6 months. She also had a 2-year gap between her two releases, XOXO and Fast Forward. Some even likened this to one going back to a “toxic situationship” that never changes since THE BLACK LABEL is the subsidiary label of YG Entertainment, the first company that Rosé ever joined.

On the other side, there was a more positive reaction regarding the statement. They pointed out that Rosé is a senior in the industry who knows what she is doing by signing with THE BLACK LABEL, which was formed by Teddy in 2016, the producer behind most BLACKPINK hits. They also mentioned that she may have wanted to work with someone that she trusts and a person who understands her songwriting process the best since he is behind the production of both many BLACKPINK hits and Rosé’s solo songs.

Another aspect of this situation could be that she may have wanted to have more down-time with her family. It is a possibility that she didn’t want the “hassle” of being a CEO and a musician at the same time. At the end of the day, we can only trust that she has made the best decision for herself.
